The Noosa Civic Shopping Centre precinct consists of 8,000 square metres of specialty retail stores, showrooms, commercial and business spaces, public amenities, a service station and over 1400 parking spaces. The owner sought concept design services from Bark to revitalise the complete user experience. Our initial focus was to develop a range of high-level concept design ideas that address improvements to public areas and the external envelope, concepts that could be implemented incrementally over a five year period, depending on capital, scope and priority.
Our overall vision for delivering a ‘Green’ experience of authentic and natural coastal architecture for Noosa Civic would extend from architectural ideas, interior ideas, event ideas, landscape ideas, branding ideas and experiential ideas. All these layers embed sustainability at the core of a contemporary natural coastal style. We will consider broad ideas at a masterplan level down to specific ideas such as furniture, colours and finishes. The user experience from arrival to departure needs to capture the full ‘Noosa experience’: what the community and visitors love about Noosa, in character, look and feel. We believe this experience should be inextricably linked to the qualities of the surrounding natural landscape, site and climate.
