We are bark
Bark is a collaborative ‘client focused’ architecture practice established by Lindy Atkin and Stephen Guthrie on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland in 1997. Working from design studios in Noosa and Brisbane, they lead a small team in designing and delivering a diversity of projects, from private residential designs through to public facilities and commercial architecture. Every project is a uniquely crafted response to landscape, place, climate and people, underpinned by a desire to unlock the spirit of each site in a sustainable and contemporary way. Bark’s portfolio of work has attracted recognition through numerous awards, publications, lectures and exhibitions.

A Local & Regional Sunshine Coast Practice We are a regional practice based on the Sunshine Coast, registered in Queensland and New South Wales. Working in our locale ensures contactability and expertise of local climatic, socio economic conditions as well as local Council requirements.
A Wealth of Industry Experience Atkin and Guthrie share a combined experience of over fifty years in the industry, with a portfolio of clients across Australia, Romania, London, Amsterdam, Singapore, China, Switzerland, Canada and the US. Bark's progressive team of architects and graduates constantly inform and invigorate the practice through collaboration.
Award Winning Architecture Bark has received over twenty architecture and industry awards including the 2005 Queensland ‘Beatrice Hutton' Commercial Architecture Award’ for their Noosa Studio.
Quality Assured Management Our Quality Management Systems have been continuously and independently audited to achieve Quality Assured international standards to ISO 9001:2008.
Hands on Approach Studio directors Atkin and Guthrie provide personal ‘hands on’ continuity throughout each entire project from concept to completion to ensure every project is delivered at the highest standard.
Australian Institute of Architects Lindy and Steve are both registered architects in Qld and NSW and are members of AIA.
