The Shearwater Beach House was loved and lived in for 20 years prior to Bark’s reimagined interpretation that stands at Peregian Beach today. Originally a classic fibro and brick home, the inspiration behind this incredible transformation was to create its owners a holiday house that would serve as a backdrop for a memorable life.
As a result, the existing beach house was opened up and pared back to reveal the structural essence of the building, capturing gorgeous ocean and dunal views, with plans to enhance in scale and in character. By deconstructing and opening existing walls, the house became one interconnected split-level space that connected an open kitchen with dining areas that overlooked the sun-drenched swimming pool and outdoor entertainment areas. Outdoor living spaces provide seamless and ambiguous connections between interior spaces, re-defining the relationship of spaces, promoting cross ventilation, natural light and the use of sustainable materials.
