The Sunshine Coast Regional Architecture Awards recently celebrated the built environment. It is this coexistence with the environment that captures Bark Design's philosophy and has resulted in recognition and numerous awards.

Taking inspiration from its context, the house was designed to be a place of 'glass and stone', fostering a feeling of being anchored in the land while at the same time floating above it.

The basic plan of the house was sketched out in the sand during an early site visit, a simple diagram of two pavilions, linked by a bridge placed either side of a beautiful Moreton Bay ash.

Discover an architectural gem tucked away in the sub-tropical northern coastal area of Queensland. Slotted between two giant blood wood trees, Bark Studio is designed as a lightweight construction with filigree framework springing from its four steel footings.

Art and Architecture makes a luminous connection at the Caloundra Art Gallery on the Sunshine Coast. Sitting within the twisted forms and papery skin of several mature melaleuca trees, the gallery focuses all attention to a new curving free form, steel and timber, glazed enclosure.
