Living in Budapest while Bark designed their home more than 15,000 kms away, the clients developed a close relationship with their architects and builders despite the distance. Social media provided a way to stay involved with, and document the construction of their home on the other side of the world.

North facing, this beach house originally built in 2002 was redesigned in 2009 to suit the requirements of the new owners. The house embodies casual coastal living with a light and embracing relationship to the landscape.

Designed to embrace outdoor living, this Sunshine Beach House provides its interstate owners with a sunny oasis of leisure. Separate zones are connected via a 'spine' with continuous high level clerestory 'pop up', encouraging winter sun and natural cross ventilation.

This northern exposure is a families winter refuge. It feels like a holiday house, its open, airy and bright with a beach feel.

The Marcus Beach House celebrates a natural coastal setting that provides its occupants with a relationship to the landscape, enhanced through strategically positioned louvre windows to capture prevailing breezes and roof overhangs are generous to protect from direct summer sunlight.

The house has been constructed around a courtyard containing a 100 year old Moretan Bay Ash, which acts as a centrepiece to the two pavillions.
