With a quintessential beach house the call of the client brief, this home evolved from a palette of driftwood colours and textures, a neutrality to be punctuated by the addition of colourful beach towels and grandchildren’s toys.
Economic constraints saw indoor and outdoor living spaces take priority over sleeping spaces, and light and openness favoured over size and materials. The focal point of this home rests on the tall open-plan living space and its large northern opening. This provides a seamless connection to the covered outdoor living space and adjacent swimming pool.
Above the double-height entry space, a glazed bridge provides access to the parents’ retreat and a link to additional bedrooms. Skillion roofs tilt dynamically to protect against the western sun.
