Sitting quietly and assured on the hill, the Samsonvale House is a simple long thin house with all its glazed spaces open to the south and the verdant mountain views of the D’Aguilar range.
The lightweight glazed pavilions are divided by an outdoor living zone, which links a protected ‘calm’ terrace on the north, through to a breezeway deck which frames the distant southern view.
Abundant northern natural light and ventilation in the house is provided through the continuous high level clerestory glazing and rotary roof ventilators, whilst this uplifting to the north gives the spaces a generosity of scale.
These simple, economical, pared back spaces create the opportunity to enjoy a contemporary ‘resort’ lifestyle.
Construction due to commence 2013.
