Peregian Beach House

This award-winning project is creates a simple yet dynamic series of contemporary spaces that respond carefully to the available ocean views, the topography of the site and good climatic sensibility. Set high on a ridge above Peregian Beach, the site descends towards protected heathland reserve at the rear, and enjoys commanding views along the coast and inland to Mt Cooroy.

Following the slope of the land, the house is placed with optimum orientation to the north, and steps down in a series of half levels. Thin and linea, it uses the site topography to organise space into two distinct living and sleeping pavilions, lightly connected by a transparent breezeway and stairwell. A skillion roof tilts up towards the highest point at the east, then twists to the northeast to maximise light and breezes.

Finishes include an abundance of timber, glass, louvres and polycarbonate.
